CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston women's soccer team fell at #15 Clemson on Sunday, by a score of 8-0.
Fresh off its first win of the season at Appalachian State, CofC was unable to carry that momentum into a difficult road matchup with a ranked opponent. Â
Â
Clemson struck first in the 6th minute of the match and never looked back. At the half, the Tigers held a commanding 4-0 lead. The home team would add four more scores in the second half to give Clemson the 8-0 win.
Key Cougars
- Freshman goalkeeper Savannah Barron picked up the first save of her career after entering the game for senior Meredith Holton at the beginning of the second period.
- Freshman Mary Alexander stayed on the attack, registering the only shot on frame for the Cougars. Alexander ranks fifth on the squad in shots on goal attempted.
Game Notes
- The Cougars stuck with the same starting XI that delivered the win at Appalachian State. It was the first game of the season that CofC did not start with a unique lineup.
- 20 Charleston players saw action in Sunday's contest
