CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston women's soccer team ended a four game road trip on Thursday night with a visit to Charlotte. The 49ers took the victory by a score of 3-1.

Charlotte struck twice in the first half to carry a 2-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, freshman Delaney Dawes found the back of the net in the 51st minute, which cut the 49ers' lead in half.

As the clock ran down, the Cougars tried frenetically to force extra time, but Charlotte would not allow it. The 49ers scored in the final minute to clinch the 3-1 triumph.

The goal scored by Dawes was her second of the season. Dawes joins junior Grace Powell as the only two CofC players to score more than one goal this season.
Freshman Faith Slimmer made her first career start and led the Cougars with four shots on goal

Senior goalkeeper Meredith Holton recorded six saves in the loss. Holton needs just six additional saves to move into seventh on the all-time list at the College
