Cougars Return Home to Resume CAA Action

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team returns home to resume CAA play and will host Delaware on Sunday and Monday at TD Arena. First serve on Sunday is slated for 1:00 p.m. while Monday's match is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

The Cougars are riding a three-match winning streak after sweeping a weekend series at UNCW last Saturday and Sunday. Delaware enters the weekend with an unblemished 4-0 mark in league action following weekend sweeps of Northeastern and Hampton.

QUICK HITTERS

The Cougars sport a 14-5 all-time record against Delaware after the Blue Hens swept the season series in 2021. Delaware has won the last four meetings in the all-time series with the league foes splitting the last 10.
The Cougars opened CAA play with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2018 last weekend with two victories at UNCW. Charleston bounced back to win in four sets on Saturday before sweeping the Seahawks on Sunday.
Sophomore Tynley Smeltzer covered seemingly every inch of the court in last Saturday's match against UNCW recording at least seven digs in each of the contest's four sets to finish with a match- and career-high 31 digs. The total is tied for third on the program's four-set, single-match leader board.
Charleston is 7-0 this season when the Cougars claim the third set and carry a 5-1 record when leading in digs.
Senior Gabi Bailey enters the weekend needing only seven kills to reach the 500-mark as a Cougar. The Harvard, Mass. native leads the team in both total kills (132) and kills per set (3.14) through 15 matches.

SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS

Delaware carries an 8-4 overall record and a 4-0 mark in CAA play into the weekend. The Blue Hens have won seven in a row including a pair of straight-set sweeps at league newcomer Hampton last weekend.
Lani Mason paces the CAA and ranks second in the nation in kills per set (5.43) while attacking at a .271 clip.
The Blue Hens enter the weekend ranked second in the CAA in hitting percentage (.232), aces per set (1.73) and kills per set (13.32).
Ezgi Basaranlar leads the league in assists per set (10.11) while Savannah Seemans ranks sixth in digs per frame (3.70).
