Charleston Begins Stretch Run at Elon

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team begins the second half of its CAA campaign on the road this weekend when the Cougars travel to North Carolina to take on Elon in a pivotal league series. First serve for both Saturday and Sunday's matches is set for 2:00 p.m.

The Cougars enter the weekend in a four-way tie for fourth place in the CAA standings with a 4-4 league record alongside Elon, William & Mary and Northeastern. Charleston jumped back into the thick of the postseason race with back-to-back sweeps of Northeastern last weekend at TD Arena.

QUICK HITTERS

The Cougars are 30-4 all-time against Elon after dropping both ends of the season series to the Phoenix in 2021. Charleston has won three of the last five meetings and seven of the last 10.
The Cougars currently occupy the eighth spot in the CAA standings with a 2-4 mark after dropping two at Hofstra last weekend.
Senior Gabi Bailey has set the tone for the Cougars' attack this season entering the weekend leading CofC in both total kills (171) and kills per set (2.95). She paces the team with six double-doubles thus far.
Charleston is 9-2 this season when winning the third set and carries a 6-1 record when holding the advantage in service aces.
Senior Lexi Wierzbicki returned to the lineup in full force last weekend accumulating 18 kills while committing only four errors at Hofstra. The Easley, S.C. native has reached double figures four times this season but only once since Sept. 10.
Senior middle blocker Emma Falk has been a force at the net in the first half of the Cougars' CAA schedule averaging a league-best 1.59 blocks per set, posting at least five blocks in all but two conference matches thus far. She set a new career-high with 10 blocks in last Saturday's sweep of Northeastern en route to being named the CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career on Monday.

SCOUTING THE PHOENIX

Elon carries a 7-11 overall record and a 4-4 mark in CAA play into the weekend. The Phoenix split with Towson last weekend handing the Tigers their first loss of the season in a five-set battle last Saturday.
Leah Daniel paces the attack and ranks fourth in the league averaging 3.29 kills per set.
Sydney Love ranks second on the team in kills (2.39) and third in blocks per set (0.97).
The Phoenix rank third in the CAA in both blocks (2.27) and digs per set (15.07)
Jordan Gower leads the league and ranks 28^th nationally averaging 4.83 digs per frame.
