Cougars Jet North for Final Road Trip of Regular Season

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team travels north to Long Island for its final road trip of the regular season this weekend taking on CAA newcomer Stony Brook in a critical conference series. First serve for Saturday's series opener is slated for 1:00 p.m. with Sunday's finale scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
The Cougars are currently tied with Elon for sixth in the league standings with three weekends remaining before the eight-team CAA Championship. Charleston split with the Phoenix last weekend in North Carolina. Stony Brook enters the weekend with a 9-12 overall record and a 4-8 mark in league play sitting one game behind eighth-place North Carolina A&T.

QUICK HITTERS
- Saturday afternoon will mark the first-ever meeting between the Cougars and the Stony Brook Seawolves. The 2022 campaign is Stony Brook's first as a member of the CAA.
- Senior Emma Falk has been a force to be reckoned with at the net during league play leading the CAA in blocks per set to take over the conference lead (1.32) in that category with three weekends remaining.
- Charleston is 9-2 this season when winning the third set and carries a 6-1 record when holding the advantage in service aces.
- Senior Lexi Wierzbicki has been in fine form over the last six matches averaging 2.73 kills per set while hitting .309 in that span to provide a significant spark on the pins.
- Claire Campbell has established herself as one of the top blockers in program history over the last several years and enters the weekend needing 14 blocks to move into a tie for ninth place on the school's all-time list.
- Sophomore Anna Smith has assumed a much larger role in the offense this season entering the weekend ranked second on the team in both kills (188) and kills per set (2.58) behind senior Gabi Bailey. The Mendon, Mich. native has reached double figures seven times this season including a match-high 14 kills in the sweep at UNCW on Sept. 25.
- Stony Brook carries a 9-12 overall record and a 4-8 mark in CAA play into the weekend. The Seawolves have dropped three of their last five including two at Northeastern last weekend.
- Kali Moore paces the Stony Brook attack averaging 3.02 kills per set as one of three Seawolves averaging at least two per frame.
- Abby Campbell ranks third in the league with a .368 hitting percentage and enters the weekend averaging 2.52 kills and 0.72 blocks per set.
- The Seawolves rank fifth in the league in both digs per set (13.91) and hitting percentage (.211).
