Charleston Jets North to Take on Hofstra

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team travels to Long Island this weekend to take on Hofstra in a crucial series as CAA play kicks into high gear. First serve for Saturday's opener is slated for 1:00 p.m. while Sunday's match is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The Cougars have won three of their last five despite dropping both matches last weekend to Delaware at TD Arena. Hofstra enters the weekend with an unblemished 6-0 mark in league action following weekend sweeps of Stony Brook, North Carolina A&T and Hampton.

- The Cougars sport an 11-10 all-time record against Hofstra after the Pride edged CofC in five sets at the 2021 CAA Championship. Hofstra has won four of the last five meetings in the all-time series.
- Sophomore Tynley has been superb over the last seven matches averaging just under five (4.95) digs per set to move up to fourth in the CAA rankings. The Savannah, Ga. native covered seemingly every inch of the court in CofC's 3-1 win over UNCW on Sept. 24 recording at least seven digs in each of the contest's four sets to finish with a match- and career-high 31 digs.
- Senior middle blocker Emma Falk has been a force at the net over the last three weekends accumulating more than half (35 of 59) of her season total in the last seven matches. The Niwot, Colo. native equaled her career-high of nine against Charleston Southern on Sept. 16 and finished with five in each of Charleston's two wins at UNCW on Sept. 24 and 25.
- Senior Gabi Bailey reached a significant personal milestone last Sunday against Delaware putting down the 500th kill as a Cougar. The Harvard, Mass. native leads the team in both total kills (154) and kills per set (3.08) through 17 matches.
- Charleston is 7-1 this season when the Cougars claim the third set and carry a 5-1 record when leading in digs.
- Hofstra carries a 9-8 overall record and a 6-0 mark in CAA play into the weekend. The Pride have won six in a row to begin league action.
- Chiara Cucco paces the Pride and ranks third in the CAA averaging 4.36 digs per set. She leads the league in total digs (266).
- Zyara Abdul-Rahim is one of four players averaging at least two kills per set leading the team with a 2.83 per frame clip.
- Beatriz Alves leads the way for Hofstra and ranks third in the league averaging 9.67 assists per set.
- The Pride enter the weekend ranked third in the CAA averaging 1.62 aces per frame.
