
Cougars Coast Past Radford to Conclude Road Stretch

Radford, Va. – College of Charleston led Radford by 20 points at the half and the Cougars never looked back, defeating the Highlanders, 79-60, at Carilion Clinic Court at the Dedmon Center on Wednesday afternoon in Radford, Va.  
Jaila Roberts had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while adding four assists and three steals, and Jazmyn Stone came off the bench to lead Charleston with 21 points. Two other Cougars had double-figure scoring games, with Anika McGarity scoring 13 and Jada Logan contributing 11.
Ashlyn Traylor was just shy of a double-double, with 12 points and nine rebounds for the Highlanders.
The Cougars will be back at TD Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. to face off against Coastal Carolina.

How it Happened
- Charleston outscored Radford, 23-9, in the first quarter. A three-point play by Roberts three minutes into the period gave the Cougars a lead they never relinquish.
- Radford scored the first five points of the second quarter that Stone snapped with a 3-point basket.
- The Cougars led 33-23 when they went on a 12-0 run including two 3-pointers by McGarity.
- Stone finished with 12 points in the first half, one more than McGarity, who made three 3s over the opening 20 minutes.
- Charleston did not allow Traylor to score during the third quarter, while Stone had eight as the Cougars' lead grew to 67-42.
- The Cougars led by as many as 30 at 74-44 on a layup by Roberts with 6:05 left in the game.
- Four Cougars reached double figures in scoring, led by Stone with 21 followed by Roberts and McGarity with 13 and Logan with 11.
- McGarity hit three 3-pointers giving her 10 on the season and made two steals.
- Roberts and Adaora Onwumelu both had double figures in rebounds. Roberts pulled down 11 to give her a double-double, and Onwumelu had 10 for the third time this season.
- Alexis Andrews had four steals, and the Cougars had 14 in the game among the 20 Radford turnovers they forced.
- Roberts' double-double is her first as a Cougar and second of her career. She had one for North Alabama during the 2020-21 season.
- The last time double-double by a Cougar was by Arynn Eady on March 12, 2022 vs. Drexel.
- This is the first time in 31 years that CofC has played in Radford, and the Cougars lead the all-time series, 5-2.
- The Cougars will start a three-game-home stretch on Friday at 7 p.m. against Coastal Carolina. They also host Charleston Southern on Sunday and Berry on December 13.
