NEWARK, Del. -- The College of Charleston women's basketball team (11-9, 3-6) dropped a tough road contest at Delaware, 103-79 on Friday night. Jenna Annecchiarico, Latrice Perkins, and Arynn Eady combined for 66 of CofC's 79 points in the contest.
First Half
- Delaware jumped out to a 7-4 lead, but the Cougars responded with four straight layups to spark an 8-0 run and grab a 12-7 advantage midway through the first quarter
- The Blue Hens then used an 16-4 surge to regain the lead and stretch it to 23-16
- Two free throws by Jenna Annecchiarico ended an 11-0 Delaware run
- After one, the Blue Hens led 26-18
- At the second quarter media timeout, the Blue Hens led 33-24, but scored six straight out of the timeout to extend its lead to 39-24 with 3:47 remaining
- At the half, the Blue Hens held a 50-40 lead
- Arynn Eady totaled 12 points and six boards in the opening half while Latrice Perkins also added 12 points
Second Half
- In the first five minutes of the third quarter, the Cougars were shooting 50 percent from the floor but were unable to cut into the deficit as the Blue Hens were converting 60 percent of their attempts
- The Cougars and Delaware traded baskets for much of the third quarter, with the Blue Hens absorbing every Charleston punch
- After three, the Cougars trailed 77-63
- Annecchiarico dropped 14 points and two assists in the third quarter
- The Cougars opened the fourth quarter with four straight points to trim the deficit to 10, but Delaware reeled off a 10-3 run to extend its lead to 87-70, matching its largest lead of the game
- Charleston would get cut the deficit to 13, but were unable to trim the margin any lower
