PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The College of Charleston women's basketball team (18-13, 9-9, 1-1 in CAA Tournament) finished the game on a 14-0 run, but it was not enough in a 71-65 CAA Tournament Semifinal loss to top-seeded Drexel (26-4, 16-2, 2-0 in CAA Tournament).
Charleston was unable to overcome a 40-18 halftime deficit after shooting struggles defined the Cougars' first half. CofC outscored Drexel 47-31 in the second half.
"You can't define us by this game," head coach Robin Harmony said postgame. "We didn't quit and we still continue to strive to get better. 18 wins is an accomplishment. It's something to build on for the future. We'll keep on rising."
2021-22 Accomplishments
- Charleston finishes with18 wins, its most since the 2013-14 season when the Cougars finished with a 19-15 record
- The Cougars won nine regular season CAA games for just the second time since joining the conference
- Won the third most regular season games in CAA's division-one era
- CofC made the CAA Tournament Semifinals for the second time ever
- Won at Drexel for the first time ever and snapped the Dragons then 14-game winning streak that was tops in the nation

- Arynn Eady won CAA Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-CAA Third Team
- Jenna Annecchiarico named to All-CAA Second Team while Grace Abercrombie made All-CAA All Rookie
- Jenna Annecchiarico scored a D1 program record 36 points vs Towson
- Arynn Eady became the all-time leading rebounder in CofC's D1 history
First Half
- The Dragons raced out to a 15-4 lead behind a 9-0 run in the first quarter, forcing the Cougars to call a timeout at the 5:18 mark
- The Cougars would fight back and cut the lead from 17-4 to 17-9, but Drexel responded with a 7-2 spurt to extend its lead to 24-11 with just over a minute remaining in the quarter
- The 24-11 score would hold at the end of the first period. Latrice Perkins led the Cougars with four first quarter points
- Drexel scored the first nine points of the second quarter to extend its lead to 33-11 at the 5:40 mark
- The Cougars dealt with foul trouble during the first half. Arynn Eady picked up two quick fouls in the first quarter and Latrice Perkins was called for her second personal midway through the second period
- CofC cut the Drexel lead down to 33-16, but the Dragons hit back with a 5-0 run to extend its lead back to 38-16
- The Dragons would lead 40-18 at the break. The story of the first half was Drexel's field goal percentage of 43 percent compared to CofC 17 percent mark from the floor
- Jenna Annecchiarico led the Cougars with six points and four rebounds at half
Second Half
- The Cougars opened the second half on a 10-4 run to trim the Drexel lead to 16 at the 7:10 mark of the third
- Charleston started the second half 7-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from three, once again cutting the Drexel advantage to 16 points with just under four minutes remaining in the third
- Drexel would extend its lead back out to 21, but the Cougars held Drexel scoreless for the final two minutes of the third period. CofC scored the final five points of the frame and entered the fourth quarter trailing 56-40
- The Cougars shot 60 percent (9-for-15) from the floor and 44 percent (4-for-9) from deep in the third. Anika McGarity paced the Cougars with eight points in the quarter
- Drexel used a 7-2 run to open the fourth quarter as the Dragons began to try and pull away
- The game reached its final media stoppage with 4:01 remaining and the Cougars trailing 69-50
- The Cougars would cut the lead to 71-58 with 1:36 remaining in the game
- Charleston would finish the game on a valiant 14-0 run, but it would not be enough. Drexel would advance to the CAA Tournament Championship Game with a 71-65 victory on their home floor
