GREENVILLE, S.C. –
Furman rallied for four runs in its final two at bats to post a 5-4 win over College of Charleston and complete a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday.

The Paladins took the first game by a score of 4-0 behind the shutout pitching of Lauralee Scott. Katie Freeman made her first start of the season for the Cougars and allowed five hits in a complete game.

Charleston took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the second game on a groundout by Carsten Puckett and sacrifice fly by Jenna Helberg. Malaka Belser upped the advantage to 4-1 in the fourth with a two-run homer, her second of the year.

Drayton Siegling worked three 1-2-3 innings over the first five frames before Furman scored three times in the sixth to tie it. The Cougars had a chance to go back in front in the seventh but left two runners in scoring position before the Paladins won it in the bottom of the inning. Siegling struck out five on the day.

Noel Dominguez tied her career high with three hits in the second game and had four in the doubleheader. Helberg and Jenna Carter both had two hits in the nightcap as part of an eight-hit Cougar attack.

Charleston returns to CAA play this weekend with a three-game series at Hofstra.
