CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The College of Charleston women's tennis team (15-6, 4-0) returns to action on Monday as it heads west to Orangeburg to take on South Carolina State (6-8, 4-2). First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
The match was supposed to take place on Wednesday, April 6th, but was postponed due to rain.
It will be the first true road match for the Cougars in over a month. CofC's last true road match came on March 5th at Stetson. Since Charleston's last road match, the Cougars have won 12 of their last 14 matches.
With three matches remaining on the schedule, the Cougars have matched their highest win total (15) since the 2018-19 season. Three wins in those three contests would match the most wins since the 2016-17 club went 18-9.
Slade Coetzee owns an 17-1 singles record this season. It is the best individual season since Mara Argyriou went 21-5 in 2017. Coetzee has not lost a singles match since March 5th. On Tuesday, Coetzee was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week for her efforts.
Despite suffering a loss in the last outing, Halli Trinkle is having an outstanding season. The Charlestown, Indiana native is 16-3 this season and 7-2 in her last 10 matches at the No.2 position in singles.
In her freshman season, Maja Jekauc has brought stability to the No. 3 position for the Cougars. Jekauc is 13-5 this season and has come out victorious in seven of her last eight matches.
Of the teams that have played a CAA match, the Cougars have the most CAA wins and are the only team in the conference to not lose a conference match.
