CofC Women's Golf Up by Six Strokes Heading Into Final Round of CAA Championship

All five Cougars are in the Top 21
The College of Charleston Women's Golf team is 18 holes away from clinching a 2022 CAA Championship. After 36 holes of action, the Cougars lead the field by six strokes at 16-over par, with Delaware in second at 22-over and UNCW in third at 26-over. CofC shot a 3-over 291 in Saturday's second round to extend its lead to six shots.
Freshman Emma Schimpf continues to lead the way for the Cougars. Schimpf shot an even-par 72 in Round 2 on Saturday and sits in second place individually at 1-over par for the tournament. She enters Sunday's final round one shot back of the leader, Christina Carroll of Delaware. Schimpf has been dominant on Par 3s thus far at the CAA Championships, boasting a 2.75 scoring average on those holes, the best of the tournament.
Sophomore Viktoria Hund was outstanding in Round 2, firing a 1-under 71 to move up two spots on the leaderboard to T-3 overall at 2-over for the event. Over her final eight holes on Saturday, Hund tallied two birdies and six pars. Her eight birdies for the weekend are tied for the individual tournament-high.
"We played a solid round of golf today," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "We are in great position heading into tomorrow."
Senior Jodee Tindal is just outside the Top 10 at T-12 individually. She is 8-over par after identical 4-over 76s in Rounds 1 and 2. Freshman Mary Kathryn Talledo is one stroke behind Tindal at 9-over par for the tournament. Talledo bounced back from an 81 on Friday to fire a strong even-par 72 in Saturday's second round. She racked up five birdies on Saturday and will head into the final round at T-16.
Smith Knaffle gives CofC all five competitors in the Top 25 as she sits at T-21 overall. She is 11-over par after a 78 on Saturday.
CofC will look to cement its fourth CAA title since 2014 and earn its ninth NCAA Regional appearance in program history on Sunday. The third and final round tees off tomorrow with the Cougars' tee times beginning at 8:50 a.m. ET.
