FINAL RESULTS

SOUTHPORT, N.C.
 – The College of Charleston Women's Golf team won the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Sunday, punching a ticket to an NCAA Regional for the ninth time in program history. The Cougars earned their fourth CAA title since joining the league, beating second-place Delaware by 11 strokes this weekend.

CofC fired a 20-over 884 (301-291-292) to seal its first CAA Championship since 2018. The Cougars now have five conference titles including a 2006 SoCon Championship. All five league titles and all nine NCAA Regional appearances have come during the Jamie Futrell coaching era.

Sophomore Viktoria Hund and freshman Emma Schimpf went 1-2 to lead CofC to the win. After coming up just short and finishing second at last season's CAA Championship, Hund becomes the first individual CAA Champion at CofC since Laura Fuenfstueck in 2014 and the second ever in program history.

"We played like the champions we are today," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "This is truly a special team. Congrats to Viktoria on her win. Birdieing her final two holes was a great way to finish it off."

Hund fired a clutch 2-under 70 on Sunday, sinking birdies on the final two holes of the tournament to surge in front and cement medalist honors. She finished the tournament at even-par after carding a 75 on Friday and a 71 on Saturday.

Schimpf continued her stellar rookie campaign and put herself in position to win CAA Rookie of the Year recognition with a second-place finish at her first career conference championship event. She finished 2-over par for the week, sandwiching an even-par 72 in Round 2 with a pair of 73s in the first and third rounds.

Sophomore Smith Knaffle and senior Jodee Tindal both placed T-11 at 12-over par. Knaffle was vital to the Cougars' push to a title on Sunday, firing a 1-over 73, which was tied for the fourth-best score on the course in the third round. She moved up 10 spots on the leaderboard on Sunday, paced by four birdies. Tindal carded a third consecutive 76 on Sunday to place T-11, continuing to finish her final campaign strong.

Freshman Mary Kathryn Talledo finished T-24, ensuring that all five Cougars placed in the Top 25 individually in a field of 40 competitors. Talledo's week was highlighted by an even-par 72 in Round 2.

The Cougars now turn to the NCAA Regional from May 9-11. Locations will be designated during the 2022 NCAA Selection Show, which is set to air April 27 on the Golf Channel at 5 p.m. ET.
