The Cougars tee off the three-day Regional on Monday at 8 a.m. ET
TALLAHASEE, FLA. - The College of Charleston women's golf team tees off the 2022 Tallahassee NCAA Regional on Monday at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club. The Cougars will face 11 other squads seeking a berth into the NCAA Championships over three days of action.
CofC takes on South Carolina, UCLA, Florida State, Ole Miss, Illinois, Mississippi State, Miami, Denver, North Florida, Georgia Southern and Quinnipiac in Tallahassee. The top four teams and top two individuals not on the four advancing teams will move on to the NCAA Championship May 20-25 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Cougars are the No. 10 seed in Tallahassee, making their ninth NCAA Regional appearance in program history. CofC clinched a spot in the Regional after winning the CAA title in late April.
"It seems like forever since we won the CAA Championship," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "Our motto is to enjoy the competition and if we do that, we should play enough to put a scare into the top seeds. If that happens it could become an interesting week for us. We are definitely looking forward to the challenge."
Action tees off with the first round Monday at 8 a.m. ET with 18 holes. Round 2 is Tuesday at 8 a.m. and the third and final round is Wednesday at 8 a.m. ET. Futrell is rolling with the same five Cougars in the lineup who won the CAA Championship just two weeks ago as Viktoria Hund, Emma Schimpf, Jodee Tindal, Mary Kathryn Talledo and Smith Knaffle will take to the links this week.
Hund won the individual CAA Championship and makes her second NCAA Regional appearance in as many seasons this week. Schimpf, who makes her NCAA postseason debut to finish off a strong rookie season, placed second just behind Hund at the CAA Championship. Both enter the NCAA Regional ranked in the nation's individual Top-250 on Golfstat.
Senior veteran Jodee Tindal, sophomore Smith Knaffle and freshman Mary Kathryn Talledo round out the Cougars' lineup for Tallahassee. Tindal just graduated on Friday. She and Knaffle both finished T-11 to score for CofC at the CAA Championship. Talledo is looking to polish off a strong freshman season that has seen her finish in the individual Top-25 seven times and claim co-medalist honors at the Ironwood Invitational in early April.
CofC's Emily Dunlap will travel with the squad as an alternate.
