TALLAHASSEE, FLA. - The College of Charleston women's golf team's season came to a close on Wednesday at the Tallahassee NCAA Regional. The Cougars entered the Regional as the No. 10 seed and finished 10th overall with a 50-over 914 as a team. CofC placed behind eight ranked teams and Georgia Southern while besting No. 46 Denver and Quinnipiac.
CofC shot an 11-over par 299, its best round of the week, on Wednesday as the Cougars moved up one spot on the leaderboard to take 10th. Four Cougars shot a 75 or better in the final round, which marked the seventh-best third-round score on the course.
"We played well today," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "It was a good way to finish off a great season. This is a young team and we gained valuable experience this week for our future tournaments."
Freshman Emma Schimpf closed a rookie season for the record books with a T-21 finish at 8-over par. Schimpf fired three rounds of 75 or better to snag the Top-25 NCAA Regional finish. She wrapped up the 2021-22 season placing in the individual Top 25 eight times.
Sophomore Smith Knaffle placed T-40 at 15-over par as she continued to end the campaign strong. Knaffle moved up nine spots on the leaderboard with a tournament-best 75 on Wednesday.
Freshman Mary Kathryn Talledo and sophomore Viktoria Hund finished T-46 and T-49 respectively.
