CONWAY, S.C. --- Coastal Carolina jumped out to an early four-run lead and held College of Charleston to two runs on three hits in a rain-shortened seven-inning midweek bout on Wednesday evening at Springs Brooks Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Chants struck first in the second taking a 4-0 lead on back-to-back homers from Zack Beach and Derek Bender.
- Coastal added one in the fourth and two in the fifth to head into the sixth frame with a 7-0 advantage.
- The Cougars got on the board in the sixth, scoring their first run of the night on an RBI single by Tyler Sorrentino before Joseph Mershon scored on an attempted double steal.
- The game was suspended in the middle of the seventh inning due to inclement weather and later made official.
KEY COUGARS
- Sorrentino finished the night 1-for-3 with an RBI.
- Sam Cochrane and Preston Hall each added a single.
- Mershon reached on a walk and scored Charleston's second run.
- Brandon Miller worked one and two-thirds shutout innings out of the bullpen.
