Smeltzer Earns Second-Consecutive Defensive Player of the Week Accolade

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston volleyball junior libero Tynley Smeltzer was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week for a second-straight Monday, as announced by the conference office.
Smeltzer finished the weekend with 5.56 digs per set posting 25 in back-to-back matches helping the Charleston backline limit a potent Delaware offense in a road weekend split.
The junior Savannah, Ga. native made it five 20-dig performances in the Cougars' first six CAA matches. Her 50-dig weekend in Delaware moved her into sole possession of first in digs/set in league play (5.60/set) as the only player in the CAA with 5-plus digs per game.
Monday's accolade is the third in Smeltzer's career and second-straight after being named Co-Defensive Player of the Week seven days ago and Rookie of the Week in 2021.
Smeltzer and the Cougars return to action this next weekend when they host rival UNCW. Both matches are slated for 1 p.m. starts and can be viewed on FloVolleyball.TV.
