CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston volleyball head coach Jason Kepner has announced the signing of two players to the 2026 roster.
"It is great to add two new Cougars to our program," said Kepner. "Maddie and Gabby are both outstanding people and volleyball players. They will add to our culture and gym with a fun and competitive personality."
Gabby Tuiaana – Right Side – Schaumberg, Ill.
Gabby Tuiaana joins the program in the spring after spending three seasons at Central Arkansas. With the Bears, Tuiaana appeared in 164 matches collecting 429 kills (2.62 kills/set), a .261 hitting percentage, 111 digs and 110 blocks. Her junior year, the right side hit .259 with 298 kills, 24 service aces, 99 digs and 84 blocks en route to helping lead Central Arkansas to an ASUN championship and automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
"Gabby arrived this spring and has been such a great addition," said Kepner. "Once we got her to campus for a visit, I knew that she was a player I wanted to coach. She is competitive, works hard and is fun to coach. Gabby had a great career at Central Arkansas, and I am excited to see her continue to grow here in Charleston."
Maddie Hewitson – Right Side – Ocala, Fla.
Maddie Hewitson will join the Charleston roster in the fall after earning four letters at Trinity Catholic. Hewitson was the 2024 and 2025 Marion County Player of the Year and selected to Team Florida. The right side also played varsity beach volleyball and varsity tennis for four seasons.
"I am looking forward to Maddie arriving in Charleston this fall," said Kepner. "She has a great arm and tremendous feel for the game. I am excited to see her in our gym and watch her impact on our program."
Tuiaana and Hewitson join Lucy Haywood, Julie Nzambele and Violet Poole as newcomers for the 2026 campaign.
