Taryn Barbot Named CAA Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. - College of Charleston women's basketball freshman Taryn Barbot has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week after leading the Cougars across two matchups last week.
Barbot averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, helping Charleston split a pair of contests throughout the week. On Monday, the freshman guard scored 18 of her game-high 21 points in the second half as Charleston erased a 22-point deficit to defeat Jacksonville State 69-58. Barbot added eight rebounds, two steals and one block in the victory. She followed the performance with a team-high 18 points against Robert Morris on Saturday. The freshman knocked down a season-best five three-pointers, adding three rebounds and one steal despite a narrow setback. Barbot has reached double figures in four of the last five games.
Barbot is the first Cougar to earn Rookie of the Week this season.
Charleston returns to action tomorrow, hosting South Carolina State in TD Arena at 7:00 p.m.
