
Three Cougars Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Tyja Beans, Grace Ezebilo and Sophia Tougas of the Charleston women's basketball team earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the 2025-26 season.
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. In order to earn the award, student athletes must be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing at their current institution, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and be a starter or important reserve (start in 90% of games or compete in 66% of contests).
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced April 15.
Beans holds a 3.860 cumulative GPA and is majoring in biology. The junior guard played in all 33 of Charleston's games, making 28 starts and totaling 331 points - including 19 double-digit scoring performances. The Daytona Beach, Fla. native also tallied 134 rebounds, 51 steals and 46 assists during the 2025-26 season. Beans posted a career-high 24 points in Charleston's 88-75 win at Hampton on January 11. Additionally, she recorded for 500th career rebound against Duke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Ezebilo is majoring in math and holds a 3.895 GPA. The junior forward earned the CAA Defensive Player of the Year award and was named to the All-CAA Defensive Team this year. Ezebilo made 31 starts and played in all 33 of the Cougars' games this year. The Nigeria, Africa native tallied nine double-doubles and had 25 double-digit rebounding performances. Additionally, Ezebilo set Charleston single-season records in offensive rebounds (158), total rebounds (397) and rebounds per game (12.0). She also finished her season ranked in the top-10 in the country in offensive rebounds per game (4.8), total rebounds and rebounds per game.
Tougas holds a 3.833 GPA and will complete a graduate certificate in project management this spring. The redshirt senior guard played and started in 32 of CofC's games this year. Tougas recorded 287 points, 87 rebounds, 31 steals and 14 assists during the 2025-26 season. The Glens Falls, N.Y. native made 69 triples and shot 34.5% from beyond the arc this year. Additionally, Tougas recorded her
900th career point during her 18-point performance in the Cougars' 58-55 win over William & Mary in the CAA Quarterfinals.
During the 2025-26 season, the Charleston women's basketball team reached new heights as the Cougars won two conference titles and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
