MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - College of Charleston softball ended the Cougar Classic Sunday with an 8-3 loss to Tennessee Tech. The Cougars went 1-4 through the weekend at Patriots Point.
Charleston tried to rally late, scoring all three of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Halle Cannon doubled down the left field line to set up Brooke Tranum in scoring position. Malaka Belser drove in Tranum to score the Cougars' first run.
A bases loaded walk followed by Ella Campbell's first career RBI added the Cougars' two other runs. Charleston recorded a season high 10 hits and only struck out twice.
Freshman Mary-Kathryn Scott ended the weekend hitting .429 with six hits and an RBI. She leads the team with a .375 batting average.Â
