Fush Jumps into Record Book in Two Events at Buccaneer Invitational

Charleston, S.C. – Abby Fush and Alicia Wilson made record book moves to lead the College of Charleston track and field team's showing at the CSU Buccaneer Invitational on Friday.
Fush opened the meet in style for the Cougars in the first event of the day, posting a mark of 5.42m (17'9 ½") to take over the No. 7 spot in school history in the long jump. Her third-place finish was the best long jump by a Charleston athlete in five years.
Fush also cracked the record book in the triple jump with her mark of 11.02m (36'2") putting her eighth. Wilson moved up four spots into a tie for sixth and took first place with a time of 12.45 in the 100.
Rhian Purves and Meike Kalus added wins on the track, with Purves taking the 1500 (4:33.64) and Kalus crossing first in the 800 (2:20.70). Purves' time was just .31 shy of her PR which is third in school history.
Emily Dorony (4:46.50), Sophia Brown (4:51.22) and Shannon Smith (4:52.81) were sixth through eighth in the 1500. Tonet Tallie cleared 3.75m (12'3 ½") in the pole vault to come within .05 meters of her PR which has her tied for second in the school record book.
The Cougars are in Columbia next Friday and Saturday when they compete in the Weems Baskin Invitational.
