Weems Baskin Relays Next Up for Cougar Track and Field Team

Charleston, S.C. – The College of Charleston will send its full track and field team to the Weems Baskin Relays in Columbia Friday and Saturday while Rhian Purves will also compete at the Raleigh Relays.
The Weems Baskin includes the host Gamecocks and Division I schools Charlotte, The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, Coppin State, Davidson, Delaware State, Furman, High Point, Marshall, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Morgan State, NC A&T, Radford, SC State, Troy, UMBC, Virginia Tech and Western Carolina.
Track Events
Alicia Wilson climbed four spots in the 100 at the CSU Buccaneer Invitational last week, moving from tenth to a tie for sixth with a time of 12.45. Wilson and Kaitlynn Bailey, who is the top 10 in school history in the 100, 200 and 400, will headline the Cougar athletes in the sprints.
Purves won the 1500 at CSU with her time of 4:33.64 coming within .31 of her PR. She stands third in the record book at that distance and will run the 1500 at both the Raleigh and Weeks Baskin events.
Meike Kalus was also an event winner, taking the 800 with a time of 2:20.70 and coming just over a second away from cracking the top 10. Record book entrants Emily Dorony, Sophia Brown and Shannon Smith will be in the mid-distance and distance races.

Abby Fush starred at the Buccaneer Invitational last week, entering the record book in seventh place in the long jump (5.42m, 17'9 ½") and eighth in the triple jump (11.02m, 36'2").
Tonet Tallie cleared 3.75m (12'3 ½") to win the pole vault and come within .05 meters of her PR which has her tied for second in the school record book.
Emily Kreek has been a versatile performer for the Cougars during the indoor and early part of the outdoor season and is in the record book in eighth place in the 100 hurdles (15.46). This week she will throw the shot put in addition to running the 100.
