Richmond, Va. – College of Charleston pole vaulter Luzy Lieger has been selected the CAA Co-Field Athlete of the Week after breaking her own school record at the Weems Baskin Relays on Saturday.
Lieger cleared 4.15m (13'7 1/4") to eclipse her previous best of 4.00m (13'1 ½") which she achieved at the CAA Outdoor Championships in 2021. Her mark places her fourth in the NCAA East Region and No. 10 nationally.
The award continues an outstanding senior season for Lieger, who won the pole vault title at the inaugural CAA Indoor Championships last month. The event win was the first for a Cougar at a conference meet in seven years and the first ever in the pole vault.
Lieger is a three-time All-CAA performer, having placed second at the CAA outdoor meet in 2021 and third in 2022 in addition to her indoor title this winter.
