CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston softball team dropped the final game to North Carolina A&T 7-2 Sunday afternoon.
Audri Bates singled to left field to lead off the third inning and stole second to get into scoring position. Aniz Roman followed up at the plate with a single of her own that drove in Bates and put the Cougars up first. Malaka Belser continued the hitting streak, allowing Roman to advance to third and score on an Aggie error for a 2-0 lead.
NC A&T bounced back with a seven-run fourth frame led by a two-run homer and three Cougar errors. Payton Lemire went on to retire the final five batters while fanning four in the process, but the Cougars could not complete the comeback.
