QUICK HITTERS
- The Cougars head to Statesboro for the first time since 2012 when Charleston and Georgia Southern were both SoCon members. The Cougars' only meeting since leaving for the CAA came during the 2021 spring season – a 3-1 Charleston win from TD Arena.
- Charleston takes on Stetson for the first time since 2014 when the Cougars swept the Hatters in Charleston, S.C. Saturday morning's meeting with George Washington is the first in program history – the Revolutionaries are the seventh current A10 member the Cougars will have faced.
- Junior setters Jasmin Goei and Emma Appleman, and freshman Hannah Scott have given the Cougars a trio of options at the pivot early on this season. The trio is a big reason why Charleston ranks second in the CAA in assists/set (11.73) with all three sitting above 6.29 assists/set individually.
- Graduate senior Lexi Wierzbicki recorded her first double-double Tuesday night with a team-high 14 kills and 16 digs.
- Sofie Vogel set a new career-high in kills with 11 Tuesday night and hit .429. Vogel also enters the weekend just two blocks shy of 100 in her Cougar career.
- Junior libero Chandler Manusky set a career-best with 22 digs last weekend against West Virginia and classmate Brynn Whitehair had a career match against Le Moyne downing four kills and two service aces.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Stetson went 2-1 at the UNCW Invitational last weekend taking down PC in four sets and sweeping the host Seahawks before falling in five to Fordham. Annabelle Standish paces the Hatter attack with 3.58 kills/set while Sophia Groom adds a .338 attack percentage. Haruka Sugimoto paces the defensive backline with 5.42 digs/set and Groom's 1.42 blocks/set lead the ASUN.
- Georgia Southern hosts a weekend tournament for the second time in as many weeks after sweeping their way through ECU and UNCG. Reagan Barth paces the Eagle attack with 3.33 kills/set while the team is hitting .254 while holding the opposition to just .053. Ashlyn Lovett leads the backline with 5.67 digs/set (leads the Sun Belt) and Ailie Hair's 1.50 blocks lead the front. The Eagles' opening match with ECU saw two competitive sets but match two only saw a tight second.
- George Washington was picked fourth in the A10 preseason coaches' poll behind Loyola, Dayton and Davidson, but have dropped their first two matches of the season to local foes American and Howard. The Revolutionaries are only finishing 10.63 kills/set on the young season and are hitting below .200 overall. Brittany Myers' 2.57 kills/set lead the way offensively while the backline is anchored by Amina Robinson's 3.88 digs/set. Kelsey Watkins leads the block with 2.00/set while Sydney Stewart has six in her five sets played.
