
Cougars Return to Columbia for Carolina Challenge

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston track and field team will travel back to Columbia, S.C., this weekend to compete in the Carolina Challenge Friday and Saturday.
Kaitlynn Bailey looks to carry her momentum over after leading the sprinters at the Gamecock Opener last week, setting school records in the 60 (7.76) and 300 (41.65). Emily Kreek ran 42.26 in the 300 and is second behind Bailey in Cougar history.
Kreek will have a busy day Friday as she is scheduled to compete in the 300, 60 hurdles and long jump.
Rhian Purves won the mile in the first meet of the season and lowered her PR to 4:59.59. She will be racing in the 800 this week along with freshman Savannah Stoutt, who was second to Purves in the mile last week (5:00.30) and took over fourth place in the record book.
Another freshman – Kinsley Allen – began her collegiate career in fine fashion by tying for eighth in school history in the high jump (1.56m; 5 feet, 1 ¼ inches).
After not competing last week, the pole vaulters are in action Friday with Luzy Lieger and Tonet Tallie entered in the invite section. Lieger holds the school record while Tallie ranks second.
