Charleston Travels to Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – College of Charleston continues CAA play in New York when it faces Stony Brook Oct. 4-5. The matches begin at 5 p.m. and noon, respectively, with both contest airing on FloVolleyball.

OPENING SERVE:

Charleston beat North Florida in five sets Tuesday, extending its winning streak to nine matches. The Cougars improved to 12-4 overall and 9-1 at home.
CofC held the Ospreys to 11 points in the second set, the fifth straight match the Cougars have held an opponent to 11-or-fewer points in a frame.
Emily Banitt tallied 18 kills and 18 digs for her sixth double-double in 2024.
Entering Thursday, Banitt is one set shy of tying Saint Louis' Carlie Rodgers for the most sets played among active players. Banitt has appeared in 490 career sets.
Emily Dykes also recorded a season-high 16 kills and hit .455 while Hannah Scott dished out a career-best 50 assists in the win.
During the nine-match winning streak, Charleston is averaging 12.82 kills/set and 2.94 blocks/set. Scott is averaging 9.39 assists/set while Caitlyn Callahan has 1.30 blocks/set during the streak.
The Cougars are out-hitting opponents .242 to .100 throughout the nine-match stretch.

SCOUTING STONY BROOK:

Stony Brook is 9-4 this season and 2-2 in the CAA, while playing just two contests at home. The Seawolves split their first two conference weekends with Hofstra and William & Mary. Kristen Belzung is in her eighth season leading Stony Brook. Kali Moore leads the team with 205 kills, good for 3.87 per set.

SERIES HISTORY:

Charleston is 3-2 against Stony Brook all-time. The team's split the season series in 2023, trading three set victories before the Seawolves beat the Cougars in straight sets in the CAA opening round.

UP NEXT:

Charleston faces Towson in TD Arena Oct. 11-12. Opening serves are set for 5 p.m. and 1 p.m. Friday's contest is Greek Night while Saturday's match is Taylor Swift Day and Camper Reunion Day.
