
Cougars Win Streak Reaches 10

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – College of Charleston came back and beat Stony Brook in five sets (21-25, 26-28, 25-17, 25-10 and 15-9) Friday evening to win its tenth consecutive match.
The Cougars improve to 13-4 overall and a CAA best 5-0 in conference play. The Seawolves drop to 9-5 and and 2-3 in league action.
Three different Cougars tallied career-highs in the victory, paced by Emily Banitt's career-best 22 kills and 23 digs. Hannah Scott also dished out a collegiate best 58 assists while Emily Dykes totaled a career high eight blocks.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED:
- Charleston soared out a 3-0 lead in the deciding set and never trailed, securing the reverse sweep. The Cougars are 3-0 in 2024 when a match goes to five sets and have secured back-to-back five set victories.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST STONY BROOK:
- Charleston's offense hit .318 as a unit, including .395 in set three and .394 in set four.
- Four different players record five-plus blocks for the Cougars, led by Dykes' eight.
- Defensively, had four players with double-digit digs, led by Banitt's 23 and Tynley Smeltzer's 19.
- Scott surpassed Tuesday's career-high of 50 assists with a 58-assist performance Friday.
- The Cougars held the Seawolves to a .167 attacking percentage in the win.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 4-2 against Stony Brook all-time and picked up its first five-set win against the Seawolves. Friday was just the second time a match has gone past three sets.
- CofC remains undefeated on Friday's, improving to 5-0.
- Scott became the first player to record back-to-back 50 assist matches since Allison Beckman in 2018. Scott's 58 assists are also the most in a match for a Charleston player since Beckman's 59 on Oct. 28, 2018.
- Scott picked up her sixth double-double while Banitt tallied her seventh double-double this season.
- Banitt is the first Charleston player to record a 20-20 game since Kallie McKown had 28 assists and 21 digs on Nov. 22, 2014, against UNCW.
- Banitt is also the first Cougar to have at least 20 digs and 20 kills in a contest since Darcy Dorton's 20 kill, 22 dig performance on Sept. 14, 2012, versus Georgetown.
- The Cougars recorded their ninth game of the season with 10-or-more blocks.
- With Stony Brook's 10 points in set four, Charleston extended its streak of holding an opponent to 11-or-fewer points in a set to six straight matches.
- Anna Smith recorded her 700th career kill.
- Allie Holland has seven total blocks in three straight matches.
