COLUMBIA, S.C. – Luzy Lieger broke her own school indoor pole vault record, and Avery Jackson came up just shy of breaking the long jump mark at the USC Open on Saturday.

Lieger cleared 4.06m (13'3 ¾") to eclipse her previous record of 3.90m set last year at the same venue. Jackson leaped 5.56m (18'3") to take over second place and come within .03 meters of RoShani Glover's eight-year-old school mark.

Abby Fush also turned in an outstanding day, highlighted by her 11.52m (37'9 ½") performance in the triple jump that moved her from ninth to fourth in Charleston annals. Fush also moved into 10th place in the long jump at 5.30m (17'4 ¾").

On the track, Kaitlynn Bailey raced from eighth to third in the Cougar record book with a time of 58.78 in the 400 while Kirsten McKenna re-entered the top 10 in sixth place by crossing the finish line in 59.35.

Andie Harding ran a 2:17.92 in the 800 and climbed three spots from ninth to sixth in school history.

The Cougars head to New York next week to compete in the CAA Championships on Thursday and Friday.
