CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston baseball picked up its first run-rule win of the season by knocking off Georgia Southern 13-3. The win also gives the Cougars a season series win after splitting two games in Statesboro against the Eagles this season.Â
Georgia Southern jumped out in front on a two-run homer in the second. Charleston responded right away with a four-run second inning.
Dylan Johnson and
Kevin Madden each picked up RBIs before
Trotter Harlan doubled in two to end the inning. An
Avery Neaves RBI single in the fifth put Charleston up 5-2. Georgia Southern made it 5-3 in the sixth but
Will Baumhofer drove in two in the bottom half to extend the lead to 7-3.Â
In the eighth inning,
Trotter Harlan drove in a run before
Cole Mathis hit a grand slam homer to make it 12-3. Two batters later,
Luke Wood homered to left to clinch the run rule win.Â
