CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston will compete in seven cross country meets this fall including two each at Rock Hill, S.C., and Elon, N.C., head coach Chris Bailey announced Tuesday.
The Cougars open the season at the Buccaneer Open hosted by Charleston Southern on August 30. Two weeks later, the team competes in the Firetower Project in Boone, N.C., for the third time in the past four years.
Charleston races in consecutive weeks for the only time on September 28 and October 4 at the Adidas/Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill and Pirate Invitational at East Carolina, respectively. The CAA preview meet takes place at the Phoenix Invitational at Elon on October 18.
The CAA Championships on November 1 at Elon, and the Cougars return to Rock Hill on November 15 for the NCAA Southeast Regional.
"This fall's schedule is aimed at preparing us for success during the championship portion of the season," said Bailey. "We look forward to previewing the conference and regional courses during the regular season.
"After our opener at CSU, we will move up to 6k for the women and 8k for the men to begin preparing for those race distances at CAAs."
