Charleston Cross Country Completes Southern Showcase

Huntsville, Ala. - The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Southern Showcase, hosted by Jacksonville State, on Friday, September 18. The women's team finished in the top half of the field, placing 15th out of 31 teams, while the men finished 23rd out of 29.

Senior Abby Mogg and sophomore Sofia Day led the Cougars on the women's side, placing 98th and 100th, respectively. Gail Vaikutis, Bella Hudson, and Katie O'Toole rounded out Charleston's scoring five to help secure the 15th place finish.

Sophomore Adrian Miller paced the men with a top 100 finish, crossing the line in 25:34.7 to place 94th. Andrew Catapano followed with a time of 25:51.6, while Thomas Flaig finished in 26:09.1.

Greyson Brown and Kyle Nitsche rounded out Charleston's scoring five, each recording a new personal best 8k time of 26:36.3 and 26:39.6, respectively.
