Women's Track and Field Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS – The College of Charleston women's track and field team was honored Tuesday with a spot on the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association team academic award list for the 2023-24 school year.

To earn the award, the cumulative grade point average must be 3.0 or higher and include all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA squad list during the indoor and outdoor seasons. The Charleston track and field team's GPA stood at 3.55 following the spring 2024 semester.

Several athletes turned in outstanding performances in the classroom last year, with Sophia Brown receiving the Elite 19 award for track and field on the strength of having the top GPA on the team. She was joined with a 4.0 in spring 2024 by Maeve Gimbert, Avery Jackson, Emily Kreek, Luzy Lieger and Rhian Purves.
