CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston men's basketball head coach Chris Mack revealed the 2024-25 non-conference schedule on Thursday. The defending CAA Champion Cougars will tip off Mack's inaugural campaign on the sideline Monday, November 4 against Southern Illinois at the Field of 68 Opening Showcase in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Cougars face South Florida in the program's home opener on November 8.
Charleston will open the season on the road for the first time since 2020-21. It will also be the first time the Cougars have played a neutral site game to open the season since taking on Charleston Southern at the North Charleston Coliseum in 2005.
The noon start time vs. the Salukis will likely tip off the Division I men's basketball season as well as mark the start of two coaching eras – Mack at Charleston and Scott Nagy at Southern Illinois.
Following the home opener on November 8, Charleston will host the Field of 68 Tipoff at TD Arena. The Cougars will take on fellow 2024 March Madness participant Florida Atlantic on November 15 followed by Liberty on November 17. The Owls and Flames will play at TD Arena on November 16. The Field of 68's Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster will be on-site at Charleston for the entire event, hosting pre-game shows and the network's popular After Dark show following the games.
Mack's squad will then travel across town to McAlister Field House to face The Citadel on November 20 before traveling to A10 competitor Rhode Island on November 24.
Charleston will bookend Thanksgiving with two home game vs. Northern Kentucky on November 27 and Tusculum on December 3 before hitting the road for their second A10 contest at St. Joseph's on December 10.
The Cougars will host Wofford on December 16 before closing out 2024 at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamondhead Classic. The field will feature Charlotte, College of Charleston, Hawai'i, Loyola Chicago, Murray State, Nebraska, Oakland and Oregon State. The 15th edition of the ESPN Events men's college basketball tournament will be Dec. 22, 23 and 25 at the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu. First round match-ups will be set at a later date.
The full schedule, including Charleston's CAA league slate, will be finalized at a later date.
