COLUMBIA, S.C. – College of Charleston women's soccer fell to South Carolina on Sunday night, 4-1.
The Cougars got on the board first in the 18
th minute, when a cross from
Emma Wennar found
Faith Slimmer in front of the net. Charleston's goal marks the first goal against South Carolina since 2002.
Charleston held off the Gamecocks to end the first half, but South Carolina tied the game two minutes into the second half.
The Gamecocks scored four unanswered goals in the second half to take the win on their home field. The Cougars had three shots on goal but were unable to find the net. South Carolina ended the game outshooting Charleston 16-8.
Charleston holds a 3-1 record on the season, looking to bounce back versus Wofford on Thursday, August 29 in Spartanburg.
