
Cougars Win CofC Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Caitlyn Callahan tied her career high with nine blocks while adding 15 kills to complete a stellar week as College of Charleston beat Middle Tennessee to win the CofC Invitational Saturday evening.
Callahan tallied six kills and a pair of block assists in the fourth set alone as the Cougars improve to 6-4 on the season. Adriana Rhoda had a game-best 17 kills for the Blue Raiders, who now sit at 3-6 in 2024.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED:
- Middle Tennessee looked to comeback in set four before Callahan's 15th kill made it match point for the Cougars. Anna Smith closed out the game with a solo block, the second time Saturday she ended a match with a solo stop.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST MIDDLE TENNESSEE:
- Charleston held Middle Tennessee to a .130 attack percentage.
- The Cougars out blocked the Blue Raiders, 14-6.
- Allie Holland had three of the team's five service aces.
- Hannah Scott tallied 34 assists, 12 digs and five kills in the victory.
- Defensively, trio of Cougars had 10-plus digs, led by Tynley Smeltzer's 16.
- Anna Smith posted a solo block for match point in the fourth set to secure the win.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston won its first game against Middle Tennessee in three all-time matches.
- Callahan was awarded CofC Invitational MVP while Scott and Smeltzer were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
- CofC had double-digit blocks in all three matches this weekend and have achieved the mark in the last four home contests.
- Callahan had 38 kills and 19 total blocks across the 11 sets, good for 3.45 kills/set and 1.73 blocks/set.
- Scott recorded her third double-double of the season and second of the weekend (34 assists, 12 digs).
- Over the weekend, Scott had 106 assists and 30 digs, averaging 9.64 assists/set and 2.73 digs/set.
