OPENING SERVE:
- Charleston won the CofC Invitational, beating Utah Tech, Robert Morris and Middle Tennessee.
- Head coach Jason Kepner earned his 350th career win against Middle Tennessee.
- Caitlyn Callahan was tournament MVP and named CAA Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the week.
- Callahan's nine blocks against Middle Tennessee tied her career high.
- The Cougars enter Tuesday second in the country with 30 solo blocks, sixth with 101.0 total blocks and 18th in the nation with 2.81 blocks per set. Callahan's 47 blocks are good for 20th amongst in Division I.
- Hannah Scott had 106 assists over the weekend, including a career-high 42 against Utah Tech.
- Anna Smith closed out both of Saturday's wins against Robert Morris and Middle Tennessee with a solo block.
- Allie Holland appeared in her 400th career set Saturday. The graduate student has 484 career total blocks, which is seventh amongst active Division I players.
SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN:
- Charleston Southern is 3-6 in 2024 and recently lost two of three at the Eagle Invitational in Statesboro, Ga. Carry Brown is in her second season at the helm of the Buccaneers. Skylar Yates has 109 kills through nine matches while defensively, Brenna Rowland has 37 total blocks.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Charleston is 39-8 all-time against Charleston Southern and are winners in 18 of the last 20 meetings. 28 of the 39 victories have come in straight sets. The two teams first met on Sept. 1, 1989, a 3-0 win for the Cougars.
UP NEXT:
- Charleston heads on the road to begin CAA action Sept. 21-22 at Elon. The matches are scheduled for noon and 1 p.m. with both contests airing on FloVolleyball.
