Women's Basketball Set to Face Seawolves

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team will continue their road trip in Long Island, facing Stony Brook on Sunday, January 12 at noon.

OPENING TIP
  • Charleston improved to 3-0 in conference play defeating Hofstra on Friday night, 64-51.
  • McKinley Brooks-Sumpter tallied a game-high 18 points, marking her third-straight double-digit performance. Her scoring was complimented by a perfect night at the charity stripe, going 10-of-10.
  • The Cougars outscored the Pride 20-6 in the second quarter to propel them to the victory.
  • CofC wrapped up conference play with a 9-2 record, defeating Northwestern in the Hawk Classic for their first Power 4 win since 2009.
  • Three Cougars are averaging double-digits on the season, led by Taryn Barbot with 14.2 points per game. Taylor Barbot is averaging 12 points per game with eight-straight double-digit performances. Lara Rohkohl is grabbing 10.5 points per game.

  • Taryn Barbot's ten buckets beyond the arc versus Charleston Southern is the second-highest amount of three's scored in a women's basketball game during the 2024-25 season. The leading number is 11 in a game.
  • Charleston garnered a crowd of 4,399 in their season opener versus Meredith, the largest home crowd in program history.
  • Charleston stands fourth in the nation in turnover margin and turnovers forced per game.
  • Junior forward Lara Rohkohl ranks third in the nation in offensive rebounds per game and ninth in blocks per game. Rohkohl grabbed nine offensive rebounds in the win over Towson and has four double-doubles on the season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • The Pride enter the contest with a 7-7 on the season, advancing to 2-1 in conference play after a win over William & Mary on Friday night, defeating the Tribe 66-48.
  • The Cougars are looking for their first program win against the Seawolves, currently with an 0-3 record.
  • The two teams last met during the 2023-24 season, where the Cougars fell on the road at Stony Brook by a score of 71-61.
  • Three Seawolves are averaging double-digit scoring, led by Zaida Gonzalez, averaging 14.7 points per game.
