CHARLESTON, S.C.- College of Charleston women's basketball fell short to Monmouth on Friday night inside TD Arena, 59-55.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cougars started the contest slow, ending the first frame down three points.
• Back-to-back triples from Jami Hill tied the game in the second, but a 5-0 run from the Hawks gave them the lead. Monmouth entered the locker room at half with the eight-point advantage.
• A late push in the fourth quarter erased a 12-point deficit, bringing the game within four with eight minutes remaining in the matchup.
• Heading into the final minute, a clutch three-pointer from Taylor Barbot brought the deficit down to three. After a pair of missed free-throws from Monmouth with 11 seconds left on the clock, the Cougars were unable to convert at the arc.
• The Hawks ended the game with one final free throw, bringing their lead to four and eliminating the Cougar comeback.

LEADING COUGARS

• Taylor Barbot led the scoring for Charleston with 12 points, her tenth consecutive game with double-digit scoring.
• McKinley Brooks-Sumpter added ten points for the Cougars, with Taryn Barbot and Jami Hill also scoring ten.
• Leah Philpotts tallied a career-high 10 boards on the night, also leading the team with three assists.
