Women's Basketball Hosts Rematch Against the Seawolves

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team will return home for a rematch against the Seawolves on Friday, January 31 at 7:00 p.m.

OPENING TIP
  • Charleston returns home following a road split last weekend, securing a victory over Delaware after a narrow two-point loss to Drexel. The Cougars' defense was a key factor in their win against the Blue Hens, forcing 30 turnovers.
  • With a 4-3 record in conference play, Charleston aims to build momentum and strengthen its position in the standings with a 7-2 record inside TD Arena on the season.
  • Taryn Barbot continues to lead the team offensively, averaging 13.4 points per game, while Taylor Barbot follows closely with 11.8 points per contest.

  • The Cougars lead the nation in turnover margin, posting an impressive +11.00 differential per game.
  • Charleston ranks third nationally in turnovers forced per game, averaging 25.11 takeaways per contest.
  • CofC sits fifth in the country in steals per game, averaging 13.4 takeaways per matchup.
  • The Cougars dominate the glass, ranking sixth nationally in offensive rebounds per game with 16.9 boards.
  • Charleston is also holding opponents to 55.4 points per game, good for 19th in the nation in scoring defense.
  • Junior forward Lara Rohkohl continues to be a dominant presence on the boards, ranking third nationally in offensive rebounds per game and 17th in blocks per game. 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • Stony Brook arrives at TD Arena with a 10-9 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play.
  • The last time the two teams met, Stony Brook grabbed the victor over Charleston in an overtime win on Long Island. The Seawolves lead the series 4-0 against the Cougars.
  • Stony Brook will enter the matchup on a two-game winning streak, having secured home victories over Northeastern (62-46) and Campbell (75-70).
  • Zaida Gonzalez spearheads Stony Brook's offense, averaging 16.6 points per game, while Breauna Ware contributes 11.6 points per contest.
