CHARLESTON, S.C.- College of Charleston women's basketball defeated Stony Brook 66-53 on Friday night inside TD Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Avenging their lost against the Seawolves earlier in the season, Charleston began the game with a 9-0 run, never allowing Stony Brook to take the lead.
- A big first frame gave the Cougars a 20-6 lead, supported by a pair of triples from Taryn Barbot and Jazmyn Stone.
- The full court press from Charleston forced 18 turnovers, converting into 15 points. A poised Cougar offense allowed only one point off turnovers.
- The Seawolves began the third with a 6-0 run, but back-to-back threes from Taryn Barbot extended the Charleston lead.
- Entering the final frame with a single-digit lead, McKinley Brooks-Sumpter pushed the lead back to 11 after getting fouled on a layup for a three-point play.
- Taylor Barbot ended the contest with a drive to the basket for a 13-point victory, earning their second-straight win.
LEADING COUGARS
- Stone led the scoring for the Cougars, knocking down 17 points on the night complimented by a pair of buckets beyond the arc and a perfect performance from the free throw line.
- Taryn Barbot also tallied 17 points, hitting three triples and grabbing five boards.
- Brooks-Sumpter added 13 points in the matchup, including a clutch 7-point performance in the final frame.
