Women's Cross Country Finds Four Personal Records in Boone

BOONE, N.C. – The College of Charleston cross country teams competed in the Fire Tower Project races hosted by Appalachian State Friday, October 3. The men placed fourth of 11 teams in the 8k, surpassing Coastal Carolina and The Citadel. The women placed fourth of 12 teams in the 6k, defeating James Madison and Coastal Carolina. 

On the men's side, freshman Will Buckley crossed the line first with a time of 25:44.2 for the Cougars, placing 25th and scoring 21 points. Immediately following Buckley was Declan Byrne placing 26th with a time of 25:47.4. Finn Myatt finished third for Charleston with a time of 26:00.0. Myatt scored 24 points for the Cougars.  

This race marked the women's first 6k of the season. Abby Mogg finished 14th with a time of 22:10.6. Mogg scored 14 points for Charleston and finished with a personal record surpassing her previous 6k best by nearly 37 seconds. Second for the Cougars was senior Cayden Crismon who also found a personal best in Boone with a time of 22:13.1. Crismon placed 16th and scored 16 points Friday evening.  

Bella Hudson crossed the line third for Charleston placing 20th. Hudson ran a personal best time of 22:20.2. Friday's time surpasses her previous personal best, set at the Fire Tower Project in 2024, of 22:50.

Charleston will next compete in the Upstate Invitational hosted by USC Upstate on October 18. The women will race at 9:00 a.m. and the men are to follow at 9:45 a.m. The Invitational will mark the last regular season meet for the Cougars before the conference meet October 31 in Lakewood, N.J.
