CHARLESTON S.C. – Highlighted by Taryn Barbot's eighth career 30-point game, the College of Charleston women's basketball team (3-0) cruised to a 75-44 win over Iona (2-1) at TD Arena Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Charleston jumped out to an 11-2 lead thanks to a 9-0 run as Taryn Barbot tallied seven early points.
The Cougars outscored the Gaels 16-6 in the remainder of the quarter, and CofC held a 27-8 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
Charleston held Iona to just eight points for the second consecutive period, while Taylor Barbot contributed seven second quarter points to the Cougars' 46-16 halftime lead.
Iona came out of the break on an 11-4 run, but Charleston closed the third on its own 11-5 run as the Cougars took a 61-32 advantage into the fourth.
Taryn Barbot, Tyja Beans, Camila De Pool, Chynell Mitchell and Anilys Rolon all added buckets in the final stanza as Charleston outscored Iona 14-13 in the last 10 minutes to win by a final score of 75-44.

LEADING COUGARS

Junior Taryn Barbot recorded her eighth career 30-point game, posting 31 points on a 61% clip from the field.
Junior Taylor Barbot continued to stuff the stat sheet as she dished out a game-high nine assists to go along with 14 points and six boards.
Junior Grace Ezebilo collected a game-high 13 rebounds and added seven points.

OF NOTE

Nine different Cougars scored in the win over the Gaels.
The Cougars shot 47.6% from the field, while holding the Gaels to just 29%.
Charleston won the rebounding battle 45-36.
CofC outscored the Iona 42-24 in the paint.
Charleston scored 15 points in transition, while limiting Iona to just four fast break points.

QUOTABLES

"We came out focused and were able to set the tone early," head coach Robin Harmony said. "Taylor and Taryn both had really good games and were consistent the entire night. They feed off each other and were able to dominate the game. We're going to look at film tomorrow and get ready for the upcoming road trip."
