NEW ORLEANS, La. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (6-1) fell 70-59 to High Point (7-1) at the Big Easy Classic Saturday afternoon.
The two teams swapped leads through the first half, but a late surge before halftime by the Panthers – a team that received votes in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major poll – gave them a lead they would never relinquish.

- Taryn Barbot scored the Cougars' first 12 points before a Danielle McTeer three put Charleston up 15-14 with 1:10 left in the first.
- High Point would hold a 19-17 advantage after the first stanza, but CofC regained the lead (28-27) thanks to a Danielle McTeer layup with 3:20 left in the half.
- The Panthers then closed the quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 35-28 edge into the break.
- Taylor Barbot scored five points in the third, but the two teams played even in the period as Charleston's deficit remained at seven (47-40) with 10 minutes to play.
- High Point scored the first eight points of the fourth to take a 55-40 lead with 7:24 left in the game.
- Charleston was never able to get within single digits and fell 70-59 to High Point at the Alario Center.
- Junior Taryn Barbot posted a game-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds as she earned her first double-double of the year.
- Junior Taylor Barbot tallied 11 points, seven boards and six assists.
- Freshman Anilys Rolon tied her career-high with nine points and was 3-for-5 from behind the arc.
- Redshirt senior forward Danielle McTeer tallied seven points and four rebounds.
- Charleston shot 31.1% from the field, while High Point scored on a 39.1% clip.
- The Panthers scored 14 points in transition and held the Cougars to just five fast break points.
- CofC lost the points in the paint battle 30-22.
- Charleston won the rebounding battle for the sixth time this year (53-40).
- Taryn Barbot scored her 1,200th career point and is now 19th on the Cougars all-time scoring list.
- Junior guard Tyja Beans grabbed her 400th career rebound.
