
Cougars Suffer First Road Loss at Colorado

BOULDER, Colo. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (6-2) suffered a 66-47 loss at Colorado (6-3) at the CU Events Center Tuesday night.

- Sophia Tougas, Anilys Rolon, Taryn Barbot and Taylor Barbot all hit threes in the first quarter as the teams traded leads five times with the Buffs holding a 15-12 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
- Colorado began the second quarter on a 10-2 run to force a Charleston timeout with 5:30 left in the half.
- The Buffs extended their lead to 15, but the Barbot twins closed the half on a 7-0 spurt to make it a 32-24 game in favor of Colorado at the break.
- Taryn Barbot drilled two threes in the first three minutes of the third to bring CofC within four.
- Colorado then went on 12-2 run to make it a 14-point game (46-32) with 2:46 left in the third.
- Highlighted by six more points from Taryn Barbot, the Cougars scored 11 of the quarters' last 14 points to make it a six-point game (49-43) heading into the fourth quarter.
- Colorado outscored Charleston 17-4 in the last 10 minutes and won the game by a final of 66-47.
- Junior Taryn Barbot tallied a game-high 22 points, grabbed nine boards and went 5-for-8 from behind the arc.
- Junior Taylor Barbot posted nine points and seven assists.
- Junior Grace Ezebilo recorded 10 rebounds and collected three steals.
- Colorado won the rebounding battle 48-37
- The Buffs scored 32 points in the paint and held the Cougars to 16 points inside the key.
- CofC shot 29.8% from the field, while Colorado scored on a 36.8% clip.
- Taryn Barbot is up to 1,229 career points and is now 17th on the Cougars all-time scoring list.
