TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team is set for a road contest at Florida State Sunday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee, Fla.

OPENING TIP — CofC, the preseason Coastal Athletic Association favorites, is 6-2 so far this year. Charleston earned it's best start in D1 program history as the Cougars began the year 6-0, including a win at Quinnipiac – a top-30 mid-major program.
Charleston is coming off a 66-47 loss at Colorado and is currently ranked 15th in the most recent College Insider Mid-Major top-25 rankings.
Looking to bounce back, CofC is headed to Tallahassee, Fla. to face off with the Florida State Seminoles for just the third time in program history. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars return two starters from last years WNIT Super 16 squad, including the reigning CAA Player of the Year in Taryn Barbot.
CofC returns six key contributors from last year's team, while adding seven newcomers, including three key transfers in Tyja Beans (Western Carolina), Grace Ezebilo (Tyler Junior College) and Chynell Mitchell (UTRGV).
The 2024-25 Charleston women's basketball team set a record for the most wins in the program's Division I era with 25. Charleston also earned its first Power 4 win since 2009 with a 68-62 victory over Northwestern at the Hawk Classic on December 20, 2024.

AMONG THE NCAA — The Cougars currently have two players who are in the top-10 in the nation in their respective categories. Taylor Barbot is one of only 11 players in the country to record a triple-double, and she's also 5th in the nation in assists per game (7.8). Grace Ezebilo is 4th in the country in rebounds per game (12.4), and the junior forward is tied for 4th in defensive rebounds per game (8.5). Taryn Barbot also 11th in the country in points per game (22.2).
As a team, Charleston is in the top-10 in two categories. The Cougars are 3rd in the country in offensive rebounds per game (17.9) and 6th in rebounds per game (47.75).

The January 25th home game against NC A&T will serve as the main celebratory night and commemorate the 50 years of the program's existence. The 1974-75 Charleston women's basketball team, which was the first-ever varsity squad, will be honored at the game.

SCOUTING THE SEMINOLES — Florida State is 4-7 on the year and coming off losses to Georgia and Notre Dame at the ACC/SEC Challenge.
Florida State has four players currently averaging double digits. Junior guard Solé Willliams leads the Seminoles with 15.6 points to go along with 4 boards per game. Additionally Senior guard Jasmine Shavers (11.3), Junior center Pania Davis (10.7) and Graduate forward Allie Kubek (10) are also averaging double figures for Florida State.
The Seminoles were picked 9th in the ACC Preseason Poll.

THE HARMONY FILE — The 2025-26 campaign is Robin Harmony's seventh as the head coach at College of Charleston. Harmony was named the program's eighth head coach on April 19, 2019 and has earned 101 wins at CofC, including back-to-back 20 win seasons at the helm.
In her most recent season, Harmony led the Cougars to their winningest season in D1 program history with 25 wins. The Cougars advanced to the semifinals of the CAA conference tournament and the Super 16 in the WNIT after earning their first postseason victory ever on their home court.

The squad is set to leave the United States for the first time in program history for the Puerto Rico Clasico in December. The Cougars will face off against Cleveland State and UPR Mayaguez in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

LAST TIME OUT — The College of Charleston women's basketball team suffered a 66-47 loss at Colorado at the CU Events Center December 2nd.
- Sophia Tougas, Anilys Rolon, Taryn Barbot and Taylor Barbot all hit threes in the first quarter as the teams traded leads five times with the Buffs holding a 15-12 advantage after the first 10 minutes.
- Colorado began the second quarter on a 10-2 run to force a Charleston timeout with 5:30 left in the half.
- The Buffs extended their lead to 15, but the Barbot twins closed the half on a 7-0 spurt to make it a 32-24 game in favor of Colorado at the break.
- Taryn Barbot drilled two threes in the first three minutes of the third to bring CofC within four.
- Colorado then went on 12-2 run to make it a 14-point game (46-32) with 2:46 left in the third.
- Highlighted by six more points from Taryn Barbot, the Cougars scored 11 of the quarters' last 14 points to make it a six-point game (49-43) heading into the fourth quarter.
- Colorado outscored Charleston 17-4 in the last 10 minutes and won the game by a final of 66-47.
