Women's Golf Returns to Action in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. - The College of Charleston women's golf team returns to action this Sunday, February 2, when they travel to Orlando, Florida for the PDI Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Central Florida.
Charleston joins Baylor, Central Florida, Augusta, Louisiana Monroe, Central Arkansas, #24 Kansas, Tulsa, Old Dominion, Nebraska, Sacramento State, #13 North Carolina, Indiana, Penn State, South Florida, #10 Mississippi State, and #18 Duke in the field.
The team enters the spring as the 8th ranked mid-major team nation. The Cougars are coming off a historic fall with three team tournament victories, a first for the program, at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational, Evie Odom Invitational, and Edisto Island Invitational. Senior Emma Schimpf won three CAA Golfer of the Week Awards and became the new program individual tournament wins leader.
Head coach Jamie Futrell secured his 40th career win at the Edisto Island Invitational. With this milestone, he ranks seventh in wins among current NCAA Division I women's golf coaches and 21st in history.
Charleston will tee off at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday with Indiana and Sacramento State.
