van Wyk Leads Cougars After Day One of Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE - Kieron van Wyk's 3-under round at the Puerto Rico Classic paced the Cougars through the opening day of play. van Wyk sits at T13 after recording five birdies on the day including three straight on holes two, three and four.
Charleston sits in 12th place at 1-over entering day two in Rio Grande.
Nevill Ruiter also played a under par round, finishing at T29 (-1) and leading the field in par 4 scoring (3.75). The senior had six birdies and joined teammate Tim Bertenbreiter in sinking an eagle. The Cougars were the only team in the first round to have two separate players record an eagle.
Jack Tickle sits at T58 (+2) after play followed by Miles Eubanks and Bertenbreiter tied at T65 (+3).
The team returns for the second round tomorrow at Grand Reserve Golf Club.
