Historic Season Ends at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J.- The College of Charleston women's basketball team's historic season comes to an end after an 89-67 loss to Rutgers in the third round of the WNIT.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Taryn Barbot starting the scoring on the day with a three-point shot. The Cougars ended the first frame down by two, supported by an 11-points in the first for Taryn Barbot.
  • The two teams traded points in the second quarter, each tallying 17 points. Charleston entered the break down 38-36.
  • A hot third quarter for the Scarlet Knights outscored the Cougars 24-13 to take the double-digit lead into the final frame. Rutgers continued to pour it on knocking down 27 points in the fourth quarter to take the victory.
  • Three Cougars tallied double-digit scoring in the third quarter matchup.
LEADING COUGARS
  • Taryn Barbot led the team with a game-high 33 points, knocking down 23 points in the first half and shooting a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe. The sophomore guard also added 12 rebounds to secure a double-double.
  • Jazmyn Stone also tallied double-digit scoring with 12 points.
  • Taylor Barbot added 11 points on the night with nine assists and six rebounds.
A HISTORIC SEASON
  • Charleston ends their season with a program record 25 wins.
  • The Cougars earned its first postseason win inside TD Arena defeating Howard on Monday, March 24 by a score of 76-56.
  • The Cougars finished conference play with a 14-4 record, finishing second in the CAA.
  • Taryn Barbot was named the CAA Player of the Year, the first Charleston player in program history to earn the honor.
